The towering talent of Idris Elba leads the cast in Bafta nominated writer/director Debbie Tucker Green's intriguing and finely performed debut film.

Set in present day London, Jackie (Nadine Marshall) is pregnant and knows it's not her husband's (Idris Elba). She says she hasn't slept with anybody else, now she doesn't know if she is losing her mind. Communication, trust and intimacy are at the heart of this warm, fearless family drama as Jackie struggles to explain news of her pregnancy. Over the course of a year the film follows Jackie, husband Mark and their 11 year old son JJ (Kai Francis Lewis) as this ordinary family struggles for answers as accusations start to fly.

Shooting over 15 years, Volker Schaner reveals the ultimate portrait of one of the icons of contemporary music, the godfather of both reggae and dub - Lee 'Scratch' Perry.

We are pleased to present this special screening on the day of its theatrical  release in UK cinemas with a pre & after screening specially selected DJ set by The Vinylistas.

A biopic unlike any other, it intercuts his journey from Jamaica (where he worked with Bob Marley) to Ethiopia and Europe with wild, Yellow Submarine-like animated sequences. A completely unique film for a completely unique music legend, The movie can be seen as a guide for how to change the world with music, with a positive attitude, mindset or, as Lee Perry calls it, vibration.

"Volker's beautifully imaginative Visions of Paradise is not only quite unlike anything you will have seen before, but is a window into the life of an extraordinary man with an extraordinary gift."

We are very pleased to welcome Director Jake Gavin for an after screening Q&A for this special one off event.

Hector McAdam doesn't have a home. He spends his time drifting from one service station to another, occasionally sleeping in doorways and on benches. He has been homeless for years now, but he makes an annual trip to London over the Christmas holidays.

He hasn't seen his family in 15 years, but he has a couple of friends he has made over the years who keep him sane. He's tried so hard to forget his troubled past, but the older he gets, the more compelled he feels to build some bridges.

Reconnecting with the people he left behind long ago seems nearly impossible for Hector. His story unfolds as he considers his future and struggles over how to reach out to the family who loved him once upon a time.

This candid and moving depiction of homelessness in Britain is a very understated yet powerful film and is the directorial debut of Jake Gavin, who leads the charge with skill and precision.

Featuring a host of British talent, including Peter Mullan (War Horse), Keith Allen (The Good Night), Gina McKee (In the Loop) and Stephen Tompkinson (A Dark Reflection), Hector is a quietly emotive masterpiece, telling the story of people living on the outside.

"A warm tale of homelessness at Christmas" **** Mark Kermode

The seventh Star Wars film kicks off a brilliant new trilogy with new characters and old favourites.

It's three decades on from the events of Return of the Jedi. On the desert planet Jakku, tough loner Rey (Daisy Ridley) plies her trade as a scavenger. Meanwhile, a stormtrooper named Finn (John Boyega) finds himself in great danger, the villainous Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) wields a cool cross-form lightsaber, and an X-Wing pilot named Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) is sent on a mission by "a certain princess". Star Trek director and long-term Star Wars fan J.J. Abrams brings these intriguing plot strands together with consummate skill to launch a spectacular new trilogy. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are among the returning members of the original Star Wars cast. And motion capture king Andy Serkis is also on board as Supreme Leader Snoke, who is very much on the Dark Side of the Force.

Just when Snoopy thinks he's safe to chill out in his kennel without a care in the world, he finds himself locked in battle against the Red Baron in a globetrotting adventure in the high skies.

Meanwhile, back on earth, Charlie Brown is once again pursuing the Little Red-Haired Girl in the hope of finding romance.

2015 was the 65th anniversary of the much-loved comic strip about a loveable beagle and his long-suffering human friend, Charlie Brown. The rest of the gang are also in tow for this, their first big-screen adventure, which is presented in 2D.

Linus, Peppermint Patty, Lucy, Marcy, and Woodstock will be joined by a host of other classic characters, including Snoopy's girlfriend, Fifi, and his brother, Olaf.

After Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz passed away in 2000, his son Craig came up with the idea of bringing the story to the cinemas and indeed, a new audience. Director Steve Martino is no stranger to animated blockbusters, having directed Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012).

Pierre-Auguste Renoir is known and loved for his impressionist paintings of Paris. These paintings count among the world's favourites. Renoir, however, grew tired of this style and changed course. This stunning film – based on the remarkable collection of 181 Renoirs at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia – examines the direction he then took and why it provokes such extreme reactions right up to today.

Some claim they are repulsed by Renoir's later works and some claim they are seduced. What may surprise many is that among the many artists who sought Renoir's new works out and were clearly highly influenced by them were the two giants of the 20th century – Picasso and Matisse. The film is a fresh new biography of this artistic giant but more than that it uncovers a rarely told story that places Renoir as a critical link between the old and the new.

When painter Gerda Wegener asked her husband to fill in for her female model, the end result was a hugely successful portrait. Creating the character 'Lili', she asked him to model for her again having been so pleased with how she painted him and he soon found himself settling into the role.

The two decide to introduce Lili to society, and she quickly becomes very popular. When Gerda spies her husband sharing a kiss with another man, she realises that he is no longer the man she married.

Lili feels more herself than ever before and makes the decision to seek out a more permanent solution. With sex reassignment surgery still just a futuristic fantasy, Gerda fears for Lili and the two are left to face an almost impossible choice.

This dramatic and moving film is inspired by the true story of Lili Elbe and the relationship between her and her wife, Gerda. It is directed by the Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) and is based on the novel of the same name by David Ebershoff.

Starring Alicia Vikander (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Gerda and Academy Award-winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) as Lili, The Danish Girl is a heart-breaking story of love, change, and being true to yourself.

It is Jack's fifth birthday. He has lived all his life in close, intense proximity with Ma in Room. Very soon their whole life together will be turned inside out. Based on the Booker-shortlisted novel by Emma Donoghue who also wrote the screenplay, Irish director Lenny Abrahamson (Garage, What Richard Did) demonstrates a knack for slicing through to the heart of irreversible moral choices. Room is tense, harrowing, suspenseful, absorbing and wondrous, with superb performances from newcomer Jacob Tremblay as Jack and Brie Larson as Ma in particular, deservedly tipped for success in the awards season.

"A suspenseful and heartrending drama that finds perhaps the most extreme possible metaphor for how time, regret and the end of childhood can make unknowing captives of us all." Variety

★★★★ "Subtle, humorous and humane" The Guardian
"A great film, a funny film and - predominately - a defiant film" Little White Lies

Winner of the Golden Bear at the 2015 Berlinale, Jafar Panahi's latest film is a spare and moving road movie exploring—with characteristic nuance and sensitivity—the social and political climate in contemporary Tehran. Shot in secret and entirely from the confines of a taxi cab, Panahi plays a loosely scripted, taxi-driving version of himself, seen travelling across the city, picking up a wide array of passengers and speaking, arguing and thinking with them.

Reminiscent of Kiarostami's Ten in concept and style, and featuring wonderfully authentic performances from its cast of non-actors, Taxi Tehran finds a perfect blend between documentary realism and cinematic poetry that few outside of contemporary Iranian cinema achieve. A vital piece of filmmaking from one of cinema's most urgent voices.

From the director of The Great Beauty, this delicious bittersweet drama is set in the worlds of film and music and features a tour de force performance by Michael Caine.

Set largely in a luxury Swiss spa, Youth is a deliciously bittersweet drama from acclaimed Italian director Paolo Sorrentino (The Great Beauty). It focuses on the friendship between Fred (Michael Caine, in scintillating form), a curmudgeonly retired composer and elderly film director Mick (Harvey Keitel). Fred is resisting attempts to revive his greatest work, while Mick is desperate to make a comeback movie starring his former muse and favoured actress Brenda (Jane Fonda). If that weren't enough, members of Fred's family suddenly arrive on the scene.

Sorrentino demonstrates his complete mastery of storytelling by skilfully weaving the various narrative strands into a moving, funny and affecting whole. Stylish, witty and emotionally resonant, Youth also features sharp and smart references to pop culture – including a cameo by Paloma Faith – as well as movies past and present. It offers further evidence, if any were needed, of Sorrentino's position as one of contemporary cinema's finest filmmakers.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars in Alejandro González Iñárritu's follow-up to his Oscar-winning Birdman (re-teaming him with cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki) for one of the most anticipated films of the year. Enduring unimaginable griefs as well as the betrayal of his confidant, he's motivated only by sheer will and the love of his family to navigate a vicious winter in a relentless quest to survive.

In a remote Icelandic farming valley, two estranged brothers must come together in order to save what's dearest to them. The surprise winner of Un Certain Regard at this year's Cannes, this desolately beautiful film follows Gummi (Sigurður Sigurjónsson) and Kiddi (Theodór Júlíusson), brothers who live on neighbouring sheep farms but haven't spoken to each other for forty years. Then disease threatens the health and ancient lineage of their beloved rams, and the brothers are forced to communicate once again.

Written and directed by documentarian Grímur Hákonarson (A Pure Heart), it's a naturalistic portrait of rural life that, like another recent Icelandic hit Of Horses and Men, utilises both the austere beauty of the country's landscape and its people's seemingly native wry, deliciously mordant humour. A real treat.

We are very pleased to present this special festival preview screening ahead of the film's UK release date.

Three sister's take in a younger sibling when their father dies, in Hirokazu Kore-eda's lovely drama.

Hirokazu Kore-eda gave priority to male characters in his last two films, Like Father, Like Son and I Wish, so it's especially refreshing that Our Little Sister focuses so squarely on female relationships. In particular, the lives of four young women, related through their late father, in provincial Japan.

Eschewing the melodramatic, the result is one of his loveliest, most lissom films, full of quiet joy and simple pleasures. As the four young women attempt to help each other along, the film touches on themes of stolen childhood and genetic inheritance, but it also involves us in their daily lives over the course of changing seasons. Not dissimilar to the little treats they give each other, Kore-eda's film resembles a series of joyous surprises. Like a beautiful embroidery, it's the product of skill and patience that ultimately allows the beholder to share in its state of grace.

The extraordinary true story of how investigative journalists uncovered an abuse scandal and cover-up.

It's the summer of 2001 and the Boston Globe has a new editor, Marty Baron (Liev Schreiber), who's curious to know why abusive Catholic Priests have gone unpunished. So he sets the paper's investigative Spotlight team onto the story. This is headed by Walter Robinson (Michael Keaton) and includes tenacious reporters Michael Rezendes (Mark Ruffalo) and Sacha Pfeiffer (Rachel McAdams).

Over the course of six months, they painstakingly piece together the horrifying truth about a systematic cover-up of child sex abuse. It's a fearless investigation that goes on to win a Pulitzer Prize.

Widely compared to the Oscar-winning classic All the President's Men, The Station Agent director Thomas McCarthy's richly detailed, emotionally involving drama boasts outstanding performances from its superb cast, who paint a compelling portrait of investigative journalism at its finest.

A War (15)
16th & 17th March  7:30pm
In the heat of battle in Helmand province, Afghanistan, an army commander with an exemplary military record has to choose to save the life of one of his men, or a group of local civilians. He chooses his soldier. On his return home, he faces charges for unlawful killing. This is the scenario at the heart of A War, this year's Danish Academy Awards entry.

The Big Short  (15)
18th & 19th March  7:30pm
23rd March  1:30pm

America, circa 2005: the media, government and big banks all seem blissfully unaware of the imminent collapse of the global economy. Four men, who are seen as little fish in the competitive world of finance, spot the problem before it occurs and form a potentially lucrative partnership.

Their daring investment takes them on a journey in to the darkest depths of the seedy modern banking underbelly, where no one can be trusted. Will their risk pay-off, allowing them to be the only men standing when the financial bubble bursts?

The Big Short is based on the non-fiction book of the same name, and has been submitted to judges on the 2016 Academy Awards panel.

The cast includes four of Hollywood's finest Oscar nominated actors: Brad Pitt (By the Sea, Fury), Christian Bale (American Hustle, The Dark Knight Rises), Ryan Gosling (Drive, Only God Forgives) and Steve Carell (Foxcatcher, Minions).

At the helm is director Adam McKay, who is responsible for hits such as Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013), The Other Guys (2010) and Step Brothers (2008).

The Assassin  (12A)
23rd & 24th March  7:30pm

Hou Hsiao-Hsien's astonishing and elegant martial arts movie is a must-see on the big screen.

Unsurprisingly, Hou Hsiao-Hsien's foray into wuxia (traditional Chinese martial arts) is very different from most films of the genre. During the Tang dynasty, a trained assassin (Shu Qi), deemed insufficiently ruthless by her mentor, is sent on a mission that involves killing a powerful lord who happens to be her cousin (Chang Chen). The plotting is highly intricate, but Hou is more concerned with his heroine's moral and psychological progress and with the fruitful tension between stillness and movement, contemplation and action. His customary long takes, composed and lit to perfection by Mark Lee Ping, are punctuated by rapidly cut, expertly staged flurries of combat – all the more effective for being infrequent and unusually realistic. A film of astonishing elegance and originality.
