Santa will tour the Village on Wednesday 20th to check out where all the good children live.
Starting at the junction of Grug Hill and School Road at about 5:30 or 6:00
Then round Drs Meadow, Hall Farm and Church Street. Elves and other followers might enjoy a visit to Cafe XI for mulled wine, coffee and/or a mince pie while Santa visits the Grove - takes a few minutes to turn round. Then Birch Grove and Birch Close. Along Brownhill to the Quillets and Marches Meadow. Then back to the pub. Takes about two hours. Volunteers needed to walk with us - giving out sweets and collecting in aid of the Village Hall.
You will hear us coming!

Local History `blog`

Hi everyone,

Do you remember my idea of starting a local history blog?    Colin Case set it up for me and I posted some articles.

However, the idea of a blog did not suit me so Roger has created a website

www.eleventowns.uk             at least he knows how to manage it as we have several websites.

You can find links to 11 articles, and more to come, and also links to several other websites which might be useful to anyone interested in the history of Ruyton XI Towns and the people in the area.

Two new articles, which seem to be appropriate for the time of the year

1.    Charles Howes, Village Postman

2.    Burial under difficulties

Here`s wishing everyone on the mailing list, and your family, friends and neighbours, a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and peaceful year in 2018 - see attached card - we hope to see you in the garden next year.

Best wishes from

Yoland

School Re-Opening – Wednesday 13th December 2017

By Sarah Holmes on Dec 12, 2017 12:47 pm

We are anticipating a return to school in the morning (Wednesday 13th December 2017). The car park and footpaths have been cleared, however, there is still a potential for black ice and areas of slush which will be slippy and potentially dangerous.  Salt will be put down again in the morning on the footpaths, but please use them with caution.  Could all pupils bring with them a change of footwear (to change into after walking into school).  If snow is still lying then they may want to wear wellies so that they can go out at playtime.  Please ONLY use the car park if absolutely necessary and if you choose to do so, use with caution due to the possibility of ice/compacted snow. Many thanks for your support over the past few days and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning.
